I am an experienced professional editor, and I consider myself a copy editor, but I do more than simple copy edit. I use Track Changes in Word to make the expected grammar, punctuation, word choice, and spelling edits. Additionally, I make comments in the margins that address problems I see in plot, pacing, character development, point-of-view shifts, etc. I will also suggest actual changes or different ways of expressing the same thought. Of course, these are just suggestions and can be taken or left. You are the author, and you have the final say, and I respect that.
