Generally, I charge $2.50 per page for a standard manuscript page, which is preferably Times New Roman, 12-point font, double spaced with one-inch margins on all sides. If you prefer a different font, that is usually OK, as long as it’s clean and readable. I appreciate receiving a sample of your writing, as sometimes I may charge up to $3 a page if, in my opinion, an unusually high number of edits will be required. I will let you know ahead of time if I feel that I must charge a higher rate, and I’m willing to negotiate. No surprises — you will know what the final price will be before I start. I do expect new chapters to be on a new page, even if that leaves little text on the last page of a chapter. That’s my little bonus for my hard work and reasonable pricing! 😉
